This is Dr. Sam Schmidt and I am so excited for you to have found us! This is an admittedly unique dental start up practice and could best be described as a passion project. As a general dentist in the Green Bay area for over 12 years, I have noticed an ongoing issue with access to dental extractions in a timely manner, as well as not having affordable options, especially for those without insurance. So this primary goal of this dental practice is to provide another option for patients to get teeth out quicker and with more affordable and transparent pricing.
As a general dentist, especially just starting out, I really wasn't ready to tackle these issues. I felt like the oral surgeons would be mad at me for some reason, or I would be viewed as not experienced enough. Basically making up excuses in my head along the way. But over the years, I just kept taking out teeth and really loved doing it. A few years I took out almost 2,500 teeth! I'm sure there are dentists that are even better than I am but I feel confident in saying that I've become very good taking teeth out, and frankly its fun doing things you're good at. It is also very rewarding to get someone out of pain and dental extractions are often the quickest and easiest way of accomplishing that. Now that I have an established general dentistry practice and feel more comfortable as a dentist in the community, I decided it was time to start this practice.
About this blog - it is going to be different than the blogs you probably read on other dental websites. And that's not a knock on other dentists, my main practice website has exactly the type of blog I'm talking about! Most of those are written by website companies primarily just trying to get the main website higher in search rankings. The content tends to be generic and kind of boring. This blog is going to be written solely by me, updated hopefully regularly (I have young kids so we'll see!) and will try to dive into some dental topics and myths. Some will be long, some will be short, some will be general and some local, but hopefully all will be interesting! I hope you find the content fun to read and if you ever have an idea or question that you think could be turned into a blog entry, I would love to hear it. Comment below and I will respond!
